Sign me up for the list of pissed off people.

I played the BWEs, read the forums, understood the mechanics of the game, and now they have changed a major portions of the game for me (the elite system).

Untill I find out otherwise I will not spread the work about guild wars being great any more.

Damn devs, how could you do that to us? Were you planning on taking our initial money and running?, because that is the way it seems.

P.S. I agree that the "unlock all skills for BWE" button was for the BWE. I am pissed about the whole NEW elite system. Why would you think that needed changing and then go and make the missions easier. I think you are going the wrong way in YOUR quest to make this game less grind and more teamwork.

When you say Breach Mission do you mean a quest in the Breach? Or "The Great Northern Wall"? Or some other mission? I would like to go after this even if capping a quick skill is annoying.

Just to confirm here: I just unlocked a normal skill using signet of capture and it's unlocked for pvp chars. A skill I captured yesterday is deffinetly not unlocked though.

Really sucks for people who have already unlocked elites I'm sure :/. Good thing they fixed it fast at least. If this were WoW we would of been waiting on an unlocking fix for a couple months.

I think it's tolerable, but it's breaking game balance.

Ah, and here I though I was playing a game to enjoy it, not to tolerate it...

The elite syste's been a bad idea ever since it was introduced, it's been talked about, complained, and analyzed over and over since then but the ship's probably sailed. We'll always have elite skills in some way or form because they'll never admit it was a mistake at this point. Of course, that won't stop the developers from apparently trying to make the system worse.

Not just the SoC-only elites. That's just laughably misguided even if the SoC itself wasn't a horribly annoying and poorly implemented mechanism that destroys the flow of gameplay, leads to griefing and squabbling, and doesn't work the same for every character (Try capturing a stance if you're a Warrior, or anything at all if you're a Monk and you'll see what I mean. Sure, it can be done but it's not as simple as watch and click). At least before you could ignore the SoC and focus on other things...

It's just amazing how it seems as though everything related to the skill system has been getting worse and worse as the game's changed. Skill points are all but useless because you can now go out and find most of your skills if you have the time to spend questing. But that's okay because you can just buy skills at a trainer, especially those ones you missed questing, but you'll have to find them first and when you do they don't have much of a selection - you get those skills you could have quested for and that's it. And it all doesn't matter, either, because no matter what you'll need to track down a boss that's using the elite skills you want. We gave up the gem system for this mess?

For all the good things about GW, for all the great changes and nice additions, this 11th hour change to the skill system is just incredibly puzzling. Whatever happened to the ideas about diversity and customization? About letting people figure out for themselves what was best and not punishing them for making a mistake? And what about being able to test skills before you acquired them?

Anyhow, this talk probably deserves a topic all its own. Hunting down the elites is a worthwhile and important endeavour, and it gets my full support. When you do make a post, try and be as specific as possible. What area, what boss, what kind of monster was the boss, what other skills does it use, and everything else is nice to have. The more specific you are, the easier it is for people to find that boss on their own.

how am i gonna ever get soul leech? i hate the whole capturing elite thing, a waste of time imo. We should be able to buy elites and all skills whenever we feel like, im only half way thru the missions and only did like 4 secondary objectives and got 25 skill points that i will probably never use since im planning to do all the quests, by the time i finish all missions and quests ill have liek 50 skill points that are gonna be pointless.

I am well aware of that, however, the elite system is tolerable, and would take alot more time to revamp then to just let it be for now. Perhaps in the future, 3 months down the road, sure. But for now? SoC elite skill system blows.

The importance is that we focus on what is intolerable first, then focus on balance. Even if Guild Wars was 100% balanced, if no one could play it, there is no point. But I fully understand how the elite system breaks balance, and I do agree. But I'm realistically thinking that the system itself cannot be just instantly revamped within a few weeks let alone days, whereas the situation we have here only takes a backtrack to April BWE.

And just for the record Rex, I was referring to the Elite Skill System as in before the retail. Where it wasn't balanced, but didn't exactly require everyone to be a dog sniffing about bosses to get their ONE character a elite skill. I was talking about the system we've had for awhile now. The balance isn't perfect, but I was suggesting for Anet to backtrack it back there, then start to move forward again. Hope this clears things up.

Tolerable from who's perspective?
For a hardcore PvP guild there is nothing worse than low accesibility and grinding for skills. When the game is heavily touted as a PvP landmark and the current environment doesnt support PvP growth we have an issue waiting to happen.

The thing is many people like Saus and myself have been around the community from since May 2004 with E3. We remember when the Elite skills system was introduced and ever since then many people have seen what was coming. Add in the SoC method and you've got high level PvP being choked by the balls.

That part in bold is something I wouldnt agree with. Intolerable is something very subjective as it depends on who's p.o.v. you're looking through. Balance is just what it is-making things fair and accesible. You have to focus on balance first because if you dont, you end up where we are at now. The elite skills system will never be revamped anyway-it's just too convenient of a system when possible problems arise. Their are some skills that really deserve the tag of being elite and there are some that just dont seem to make any sense with the tag. Combined with the SoC and you've got a big misleading mechanic making newbs go wild over something as pitiful as Virulence

Gah! Just when I thought maybe I could tolerate the grind of unlocking skills for my PVP character, this stupid Elite skills system pops up out of nowhere in release. This is a really really tedious boring infuriating system that simply doesn't fit in GW's other laxed and casual friendly type of play. Who the heck thought this would be cool?!

For those that don't even read the first post, SoC-ing skills unlocks them on your pvp characters now.

So we need to come up with a proper list of where to get the skills.. An SoC is a skill point, and I don't want to waste one if I know that I can buy/quest for the skill later.

For that fact, will elites be available from quests? Or will you ONLY have to SoC them? (unlocked or not).

The boss that has healing hands at D'elassio is the mergoyle monk boss (Muga Riptide) down at the beach after the fountain.
